Jamborees are NU Water’s way of bringing folks together from across the university to talk about, and enjoy, water.

Faculty Jamboree, February 2025.
Our first Water Jamboree brought together more than 70 faculty from seven schools and multiple institutes and centers across Northwestern to share current water-related research and ideas for advancing the University’s leadership in this space. Highlights included the multi-generational “Water Song,” remarks from Deans Schuh, Randolph, and Brayboy, and vibrant discussions spanning molecular discoveries to global policy. The event sparked new collaborations and a shared vision for the future of university-wide water research. See McCormick’s article on the event here:

Student Jamboree, May 2025.
Our first student jamboree brought together undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral researchers from across Northwestern to share their water-related projects and connect with peers shaping the future of the NU Water community. The event featured lightning presentations, networking, and plenty of NU Water spirit. Attendees left inspired to continue building collaboration and engagement across disciplines through upcoming NU Water events.

Beach Jamboree, September 2025.
Our first annual Center for Water Research Beach Day Jamboree brought together more than 100 students, faculty, and staff from across Northwestern’s schools and offices to celebrate water, community, and lakeside fun. Held at the NU Sailing Center, the event featured watercraft excursions, remarks from university leadership including Jennifer Dunn, Director for the Center for Engineering Sustainability and Research, and Enectali Figueroa, Associate Vice President for Research, marine origami, and water postcards for attendees to send to friends and family. It was a joyful and inspiring kickoff to a new year of collaboration and connection within the NU Water community.
